Hesperian Deathhorse

[edit]

I'm getting rid of it. The songs have a similar sound, sure, but inasmuch they probably use the Pumpkin chord. Vocally different, structure different and to be honest it sounds like a ploy on the part of Hesperian Deathhorse themselves (Check their MySpace blog)

Anyway, gone. DrBobert 22:47, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right, and are you on the Silversun Pickups payroll? What do you mean by 'the Pumpkin chord'? Explain yourself. 28, June 2007

"It's just an open E with an A flat (G#) octave played at the 11th fret, but what's funny about it is we've now used it in so many songs that when other bands use it, even if they're not trying to emulate us, people always tell me, 'Oh, they sound like Smashing Pumpkins.' I like the idea of having exclusive claim to one chord." - Billy Corgan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.37.62 (talk) 06:11, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interpretation of video plot

[edit]

Not trying to step on any toes, but I was wondering if there was a source behind the interpretation of the plot of the video, or if it was just a personal idea of what was going on. If there is no source, I'm not sure the interpretation belongs on this page. Any other opinions? Tstreet (talk) 06:58, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed on the interpretation. Additionally the similarity to the 'plot' of Sonic Youth's Dirty Boots video is so striking, it's either an homage or a ripoff. Either way, required viewing for any subjective interpretation of plot. - KenChasse (talk) 15:43, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The girl is not "very attractive". Beauty is a matter of perspective; her hair is way too short. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.44.237.75 (talk) 10:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely not. Our two central characters are definitely not boyfriend and girlfriend. Laura sure is waiting there, hoping to meet *someone* special, and is *very* interested when Bobby walks in. However she plays things too cool. When Bobby smiles, hoping she'll smile back - hoping for the sparks that we in the audience see - his heart sinks when Laura ignores him. Music Angry. Bobby now plays it cool by walking out with his crew, instead of letting her notice his dejection. Bobby gains the upper hand by this move; when Laura realises her mistake, she rushes out of the club, worried this dude has fled the scene. All is forgiven when they lock eyes and agree the sparks were probably right. Walk-off and fade to black.

I agree there's a strong visual connection to Dirty Boots (in which the chemistry between /that/ Bobby and Laura is immediate); however it's also mutually acknowledged rather than pridefully deferred, as in Lazy Eye.

p.s. In Lazy Eye, the girl is "very attractive". Her hair is awesome. --Simon Kennedy 1973 (talk) 13:59, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Who Plays "the Girl"?

[edit]

What is the name of the actress, and did she ever do anything after this? The video is beautifully directed and cut, but she has to convey about ten different emotions with no more help than a silent movie star ever got. She never overplays. Profhum (talk) 09:35, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
