Isn't the Life Ball a direct reaction to the famous Opera Ball? I was living in Vienna when it started, and I was certain it was, but this page doesn't mention the Opera Ball, nor does the Opera Ball mention the Life Ball. IMO it would be appropriate to mention this on both pages.Priceyeah (talk) 17:07, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I (born and still living in Vienna) know, the Life Ball was not directly inspired by or created in opposition to the Opera Ball. There are cross-references made in the media, but that is only because the Opera Ball is such a big tradition (at least to many people in Austria) and the Life Ball became one (for even more people it seems, though in a different way) in recent years. Journalists frequently like to compare both balls, but that is just because they are the ones thet get the most coverage in the media. --Tsui (talk) 22:22, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
