Merge
[edit]The article Floral clock already exists on this general subject, but this has some more information that would be good in that article. After the merge, this page should be deleted or redirected to the Floral clock page. — Insanity Incarnate 17:50, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I wonder if combining the two types of floral clocks isn't artificial. They really aren't related in construction, only in purpose. It's like putting sundial and water clock in the same article. I actually think the non-mechanical flower clock material from floral clock should be placed here. The poem cited by floral clock, by the way appears to refer to some sort of garden sundial, where the shadow would fall on a bed of flowers, apparently, rather than Linnaeus' idea.--♦♦♦Vlmastra♦♦♦ (talk) 21:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- The second definition at Floral clock seems to fit with the concept here. As for the poem (not that I know anything about poetry or botany), it seems to describe any clock made out of flowers, including Linnaeus's. — Insanity Incarnate 22:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- @ insanity incarnate. Your missing the point here. The Linnaeus clock is not a physical clock made of flowers, its a way of telling time based on which flower is open or closed. It is NOT an artifice of flowers decorating a real clock. I'm not even sure the Linnaeus clock has hands or anything resembling a wall clock. 09:55, 1 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.28.13.32 (talk)
