The references section has no need of "45em" to force non-standard formatting of the list of citations. The edit summary of a recent reversion said "How does forcing the refs into those narrow columns improve readability?", however the columizing of {{reflist}} is automatically rendered, and how it displays depends on the Wikipedia "skin", whether the user is viewing on a mobile or desktop device, and the zoom level of the viewer. There is no particular reason for this article to force a different style of display on users. That editor who complained of "forcing the refs into those narrow columns" should look at their settings instead of changing the article for all public. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 20:29, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Justlettersandnumbers: You were pinged for this discussion, and yet I see you re-added 45em with this edit and the edit summary of widen the refs a bit so that it's actually possible to read them. In order to understand your concerns, please post two screenshots of what it looks like using just {{reflist}}without the 45em, and with the 45em. (Screenshots can be uploaded for free at imgbb.com without needing to register or log in, and you can set it to self-delete the images on a timer. You also have my email address if you prefer to email them to me.) And which "skin" are you using for Wikipedia? You can find that information in the Wikipedia settings (while logged in) under "Preferences", then "Appearance". ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 05:23, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
