Fair use rationale and images[edit]

Image:Much2006.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

To clear up the talk page for discussion of more substantive issues, I'm compressing all of the repeated instances of the above tag into the below list. The following images have been deleted from the article based on insufficient fair use rationales:

In short, please don't upload pictures just to illustrate the article. While it's nice to have pictures, that use isn't sufficient to justify the inclusion of non-free content; they need to serve some sort of critical purpose. Editing[edit]

I like this page; at least it makes an effort to describe characters using more context than most of the pages in this encylopaedia. But ... "it is evident that Robin and Marian's relationship has grown more stronger" ??? More stronger? C'mon now. Removed Key Sayings[edit]

I've removed the list of quotes for each character. I don't think they were particularly illustrative of of the characters. With only a couple of exceptions (e.g. the Sheriff's "A clue: no") they also weren't really "catchphrases" that would require direct quotation.--Trystan (talk) 18:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No pictures?[edit]

In order to ensure that Wikipedia remains perpetually free for distribution, the use of copyrighted images is governed quite strictly. Adding a picture just to make the page look more interesting unfortunately doesn't meet the criteria.
There is the possibility of adding pictures which are necessary to illustrate some specific aspect discussed of the article, however. For example, if there are articles we can cite and quote which discuss Robin's modern-styled appearance as an aspect of the show, I think we would be justified in adding a promotional image of Robin, since it should meet the following criteria:
  • No free equivalent: By definition, images of the characters can only be produced by the creative authority behind the show.
  • Respect for commercial opportunities: A critical analysis of the show and its characters would respect the commercial undertaking of the show.
  • Minimal usage: The picture should be reduced down to no more than 300 pixels in either dimension before being uploaded. Only as many pictures per article as needed to support discussion.
  • Previous publication: Promotional image published on BBC website.
  • Content: The article currently has a few remaining large swaths that contain little or no critical commentary or real-world context and instead retell the plot, but this is a problem which can be corrected. In support of a cited discussion on the stylistic choices regarding the appearance of a character, the image would be encyclopedic.
  • Image Use Policy must be satisfied.
  • One article minimum would be met by inclusion in Robin Hood (2006 TV series) characters
  • Significance: If supported by reliable discussion of the appearance of the characters as a significant stylistic choice, then having a picture would greatly increase understanding of that discussion in a way that can't be achieved through other means.--Trystan (talk) 17:28, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy[edit]

Unless it's specifically stated that Archer does inherit Robin's title and lands, he is illegitimate and thereby ineligible to become the next Earl. As the bastard son of Robin's father, he might inherit the lands if it were mentioned in Robin's will or he could legally prove his relationship to Robin. I've just removed this. It wasn't mentioned in the episode, and in any case Robin lost his lands when he became an outlaw so there is nothing to inherit. U-Mos (talk) 13:33, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
