Siddeley
[edit]I believe that this article needs an introduction as it seems that it is not limited to cars bearing the Wolseley badge, as could be inferred from the title. GTHO (talk) 09:58, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
That's right. Wolseley-Siddeley is sometimes regarded as a different brand but they really were Wolseleys made by Wolseley and after around 1910 reverted to the one name without any other even minor variation (I think). The Stellite was an attempt by Wolseley to go into a low price range with a different name to protect their expensive image but few were made before war stopped production and it resurfaced after the war as a plain Wolseley and as a Ten with 1261cc instead of a Nine with 1075cc. If I tidied that rough statement up and verified some things would that cover the situation? Cheers, Eddaido (talk) 13:04, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
- I suggest that we need a simple statement such as: "This is a list of automobiles that were marketed under the Wolseley brand name. It also includes ....................". GTHO (talk) 21:45, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Your keyboard or mine (to begin with)? Eddaido (talk) 04:31, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
- Seems only right that you add the definition and I play the devil's advocate. GTHO (talk) 09:56, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- I have added "This is a list of automobiles marketed under the Wolseley and Wolseley-Siddeley names." We still need an additional line to explain the presence of the section headed "Herbert Austin's cars with horizontal engines" GTHO (talk) 23:00, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
- I have had a go. I'm sorry about the delay, I'm almost totally distracted from WP. Eddaido (talk) 04:44, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- We need an explanation in the article introduction as to why "Stellite" is included. GTHO (talk) 23:28, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- Had another go. I must say this is an extremely ugly looking schedule. It looks like it does because I made an Excel spreadsheet then used an app of some kind that converted it to Wikispeak. Any thoughts? Eddaido (talk) 03:39, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
Badge-engineered Morris, Austin & Riley cars from 1935
[edit]I just had a look at this page because there was a new message saying it had been patrolled. I hadn't noticed the amended heading before. This is to say I strongly disagree, if anything it could say Morris MG and Riley cars but Austin?? Or is this "was an ADO15 a Morris or an Austin" etc.? Would love to discuss on a case by case basis.
