Former bridges[edit]

Should bridges that have been removed be included in this list? I have removed a few of them thinking that this list is for bridges that exist right now. I took out Silver Bridge, and Collins Bridge. Cacophony 05:03, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That hadn't occurred to me before, but maybe they should stay in the list. To use the Silver Bridge as an example, someone might not remember the name of the bridge, but, knowing there was an infamous bridge collapse in West Virginia, would come to this list and look under 'West Virginia.' Maybe such bridge names could be appended with "(no longer in existence)" or some such phrase. —Muffuletta 08:32, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is considered "notable"? I added the Y-Bridge in Galena, Missouri as it is on the National Register of Historic Places. It wasn't a major bridge, but its construction was unique.Rt66lt 12:54, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

list of bridges in the united states correction[edit]

The following bridges are listed under "OHIO" which is erroneous. The Ohio river is part of Kentucky and not Ohio, therefore the bridges over the river belong to Kentucky and should be moved there on the list:

   * Brent Spence Bridge, Cincinnati
   * Carl Perkins Bridge, Portsmouth to Greenup County, Kentucky
   * Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, Cincinnati to Newport, Kentucky
   * John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, Cincinnati to Covington, Kentucky
   * Newport Southbank Bridge (aka "Purple People Bridge"), Cincinnati to Newport, Kentucky

The river may be entirely in Kentucky, but the bridge approaches are also in Ohio. --NE2 17:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

trust me[edit]

trust me, bridges over the ohio river belong to kentucky. kentucky actually has a serious problem on their hands right now, regarding the brent spence. kentucky must replace this bridge as it is showing signs of stress. the kentucky transportation cabinet's website currently states it will begin work on the replacement in 2015.

Further lists[edit]

I added a Further lists section under Pennsylvania to denote the abundance of bridge lists. I suspect there are many similar situations regarding other states/cities. Not sure if this is the best way to denote articles such as: List of crossings of the Susquehanna River or Pittsburgh bridges; however, I believe they should ultimately be listed on this page. Thoughts, concerns? Wrightchr 07:02, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of article[edit]

In the lead, it says that this is a list of "notable" bridges. What that actually means is still a mystery to me. In my opinion, at least, existence is notability enough for inclusion. Should the page be renamed to "List of notable bridges in the United States"? As its name is now, it should include every bridge (or at least every named bridge). WP:LISTNAME may be helpful. Generally speaking, it's assumed that lists of this type cover WP:NOTABLE examples only, and therefore "notable" or similar adjectives are not required in the title. Station1 (talk) 19:11, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
