Notes
[edit]I do not understand why "Seat Pagine Gialle - covers the whole country" is referenced for Italy. There is nothing in plain view on their website related to maps. Should this reference be nuked?
Dead link
[edit]geomapserver.com is a dead link -- I suspect many others might be as well, so this page needs vetting for currency of links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.77.21.165 (talk) 16:05, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
General Categorization
[edit]This page should be geographically (and by topic?) categorised so its not an indiscriminate collection of links — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comte arnau (talk • contribs) 13:52, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- Please read WP:LINKFARM. Thanks. --Randykitty (talk) 14:03, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I Know. I already read this before posting. Still, this is basically a software list and I can see its utility in Wikipedia. The contradiction exists because the list is about "online services", so its natural there are many, many links. But still, you can delete the links and the remaining list is useful (but less for the reader, because it doesn't have the links!). So this really should be an exception for LinkFarm. I think that's the reason it has not already been deleted (It should have been quite long ago, based on your premisses). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comte arnau (talk • contribs) 18:26, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- With more than 5.3 million articles here, it is unavoidable that some are not up to par and still escape significant attention for years. I'm afraid that's the real reason that this still is lingering around: nobody just looked at it seriously. --Randykitty (talk) 21:37, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- Lets delete all the links, then. As a cartographer, I can see the utility of this list of online services. Lets delete all the links and the users can google the services they want to look at. --comte arnau (talk) 10:41, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Redundancy
[edit]It looks like there are only 3 different maps out there: Here, Bing and Yandex seem to base on the same dataset. Google has its own dataset. All the other rely on Openstreetmap. --Lukie.80 (talk) 22:00, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- The question we have to ask here is which definition we want for items on this list. Do we want online map services you can use on the internet or do we want to list the datasets? The name of the list seems to point to the former, which would mean the current list is fine. I personally find the latter more interesting for an encyclopedia because there aren't as many of those and they're usually not as visible. Glodenox (talk) 16:41, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
ViaMichelin Scope
[edit]Does ViaMichelin need to be moved to the Global section? It has street-level detail & address/amenity support for the United States, Kenya, Sri Lanka ... I haven't done a systematic analysis, but the few spot checks I did are definitely outside Europe... MStruzak (talk) 20:13, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
