The Sheik of Araby

Is there a reason for The Sheik of Araby being in this list two times? See "Sheik of Araby" and "The Sheik of Araby"--79.255.125.181 (talk) 01:43, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

No, it must have been a mistake. I removed "Sheik of Araby". McLerristarr | Mclay1 11:57, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

The Beatles Anthology Vs. Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962

The Anthology albums were released in 1994, 1995, and 1996, but the album, Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962 was released in 1977, though the songs for this album were recorded in 1962. Several of the on the list are noted as being first released on one the Anthology albums were actually released many years earlier, on the album, Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962 in 1977. These songs are:

  • Lend Me your Comb
  • Bésame Mucho
  • Hallelujah, I Love Her So

Also, the song, "Matchbox", was released on Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962 in 1977, before it was released on Past Masters Volume 1 in 1988.

The album for these four songs need to be changed to the correct album very soon, because they are not the correct album that they were first released on. --Snowconeboy789 02:09, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I think this raises an issue of "live" versions of songs vs. studio recordings. The songs on _Live! at the Star-Club_ are not the same recordings that appeared on studio albums. Unless we want to distinguish between different versions of the same song, should the introduction be clarified to say that these are only the "core" studio recordings, not the first appearance of a song if that appearance is on a live album.  ~ InkQuill  18:04, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Past Masters vs. Rarities

I'm creating a chart for my own use that includes U.S. albums, since there are so many differences in the early albums. As a U.S. fan, I'm faced with the issue of whether to have U.S. albums, U.K. albums or both on my iPod? I will post my chart on my talk page so that others can judge whether it's worthy of including here. I realize there will be problems, including the lack of Canadian albums. My purpose is simply to record the first ALBUM appearance in both the U.K. and U.S. of each song.

I notice that a number of U.K. songs are listed as Past Masters when they actually first appeared on Rarities (1978 The Beatles album). I don't know the reason for this if the purpose is to list the first appearance on an album. Can someone explain? Or should they be changed to Rarities?  ~ InkQuill  17:56, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I added a U.S. album column to the table--I reduced the %s on the columns so they'd add up to 100--but it didn't work. If anyone can tell me what I did wrong, it's on my talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:InkQuill#Table.  ~ InkQuill  23:15, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Alternate albums

I have found (unsourced, found by googling) alternate albums.

Supposivly sold by the Beatles but have versions/takes of songs. (Basicly alternates for all origional Beatles albums)

These could be bootlegs, or actual albums never sold publicly.

If this should be helpfull, please contact on my talk page.
