"While there is some doubt that the cell was ever used to house prisoners, there is no reason to doubt this either" sourced to a 1924 popular book. There are sources for at least the Elizabethian period mentioning it as being used. Dome mroe modern references are needed. DGG ( talk ) 04:07, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mediaeval etymology

WP:BRD:

At present the origin is given as: "ease", which was a medieval word for a small, confined space. The attached {{CN}} tag was removed. According to the authoritative and comprehensive OED, ease never bore this meaning. As the tag had been in place for a while I'm suggesting that this sentence may now be deleted.
The reliably referenced information (OED again) about the Little Ease cell in London's Guildhall was removed without explanation. It should go back.
