There is no denying that the blason listed violates the rule of color on color. Is that reason enough to refuse an illustration or post an error. The real question is did the French College register this coat. If it is officially registered it seems to me that there is no reason to refuse it. There is president for bad blasons in French Heraldry. For instance the Royal Standard of the Kingdom of France was Metal on Metal (Argent, Fluery Or, etc.). I realize it's the standard and not the coat upon it that violates but there are other examples where it is the coat. Does, this perhaps mean that traditionally the Valois house may have reserved the right to violate for their own coats? RHIP?
