Not a single one of those examples shows the place name ending in an "a". The people of Wisconsin surely know more about Sauk County than some nameless bureaucrat in Washington. The fact is that the people of Wisconsin call the locale "Loreto". The U.S. Geographic Names Information System has been known to be wrong. But we wouldn't want the facts to interfere with RFD's opinion. 71.139.152.204 (talk) 23:34, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am just following the name convention use in Wikipedia. The GNIS for Loreta, Wisconsin has information why the US government used the spelling for Loreta, Wisconsin. Therefore, I am just following the GNIS for Loreta, Wisconsin. Also the Dictionary of Wisconsin History has a listing for Loreta, Wisconsin that 71.139.152.204 did not mentioned. Therefore, I invited 71.139.152.204 to contact the US Board on Geographic Names about a change in the listing. Other editors of Wikipedia have contacted GNIS before about concerns involving comunities. RFD (talk) 10:46, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The GNIS changed the name to Loreta in 1961, so it's entirely possible that the name has changed since then. I looked at the GNIS records regarding the name changed, and they seem to have changed it based on correspondence with the state and county highway commissions; however, if the county highway map is any indication, the state highway commission is calling it Loreto now. Nearly every other modern source calls this place Loreto, so I'd support a move to that name. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 23:41, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Per comments I revert the change to that of 71.139.152.204. However, I am still not sure of changing the article to reflect the spelling. I would prefer having someone contact GNIS to see what they think before we change the article's title. Thank you-RFD (talk) 00:00, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
