Racing car template

I've had a stab at a template for racing cars (see template:Racing car) to summarise the usual data. I've used the F1 templates as a starting point and applied it to the Brabham BT46 article. If anyone's got an interest in this, please have a look at the template and modify or suggest changes as appropriate. After a few people have had a go at it and we have something we're happy with we could start to use it more widely. Note that it's not meant to be specific to F1, by the way. First car designed using a wind tunnel claim inaccurate

The article for Lotus 78 says that the maker had been experimenting with wind tunnels and a "rolling road". That would make the claim in this article that it was the first designed with a wind tunnel inaccurate. Anyone more familiar with the subject matter care to comment? ... aa:talk 20:47, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Not true as far as I can see - Brabham and British Racing Motors used wind tunnels in the 1960s. In fact Tony Rudd and Peter Wright previously worked on an idea for a forerunner of the 'wing car' at BRM. Might mean the first to use a rolling road, perhaps? The claim about computer models is wrong too. Computer models were used by Harvey Postlethwaite at Hesketh Racing in 1975 (1976 John Player Motorsport Yearbook, p.113 for the latter claim). Probably a garbled version of a more limited claim - first car to have its aerodynamics modelled by computer, perhaps? 4u1e 23:00, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
