Mall Area

[edit]

Hii, SEIAA document clearly states that the BUA is mall area + hotel area. So the most legit data now available is same as the one provided by the contractor of the mall. Which is 2273000sqft. the floor plans and renders are available please do seach it in skyscrapercity.com it clearly shows a floor count of total 3 floors including ground. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lesly95 (talkcontribs) 12:58, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

According to the SEIAA document published by the Government of Kerala, the total GBA of the project is 2501532 sq.ft. Since the figures by the owner, developer and the designer are different to each other, SEIAA is the most reliable one among all the sources.
The designer website here says that the mall will have a GBA of 108,006 sqm, which is far less from the SEIAA figures. The next source you provided is a blog website of the contractor. It says the mall will have a BUA of 22,73,000 sq. ft. The same blog also says that "One of the prime attractions will be a 5-star hotel of 215403 sq.ft and 110 rooms located inside the mall." So it is not clear weather the BUA figure include the the hotel area. Also many news articles reported that the hotel is included in the mall. There is also similar projects with same size (2.5M sq.ft) by the same company which includes a hotel and a mall. [1], [2].

There is no need to rely on a contractor blog when there is a very reliable source that says the project has a BUA of 2501532 sq.ft. Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. Information in an article must be verifiable in the references cited. Article statements should not rely on unclear or inconsistent passages. Passages open to multiple interpretations should be avoided. Drawing conclusions not evident in the reference is original research regardless of the type of source. AG47 Talk 19:49, 17 May 2018 (UTC) Agreed it's correct if the area provided is mall+ hotel. But there is a deatiled PDF document published by the designer.108006 fig not exactly correct I don't know why they are showing it. You can search for it in Google to find that PDF document(detailed one including floor plans) In it if you add up all the sqft count on each floor you will indeed get 2273000sqft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lesly95 (talkcontribs) 15:03, 18 May 2018 (UTC) Why is the hotel area included in a article about mall? That's highly misleading. Also Kochi project is 2.5 M sqft with the mall area alone. If hotel is included which is a 17 storied with (Marriott Kochi)structure the Total area will be way larger. Also TVM Lulu's so called 4th floor is a small space containing office space of Lulu and will mostly be of limits to coustomers.[reply]

so editing back the true figures the mall area+ hotel area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lesly95 (talkcontribs) 17:07, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Do not edit the article without reaching conciseness. You just repeated the same points. It is noted that you have certain bias towards another mall. As I said above, there is no need to do original research while there is a very good reliable source that says the project has a BUA of 2501532 sq.ft. Also, mall including a hotel is nothing new. There are many malls which has hotel/hotels in the mall. Even the contractor source you provided says, One of the prime attractions will be a 5-star hotel of 215403 sq.ft and 110 rooms located inside the mall. There are many other references which says the same. [3], [4].
Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. Information in an article must be verifiable in the references cited. Article statements should not rely on unclear or inconsistent passages. The PDF document published by the designer says the mall has a BUA of 1005812 sq.ft. The hotel area figures you mentioned in the pdf file of the designer is also in direct conflict with the figures in the contractor's blog. You need to ignore all these figures and do some calculations to reach the figure you desire. That's original research. What is the need for that while a good, clear source is available? Please do note that I have no bias against another project. I mentioned the another project since it is a mall+hotel project similar to project in Trivandrum. This page should give the mall area instead of mall+hotel(which is a separate building on the same plot) that's what I meant. Regarding the original PDF document, please all up floor wise SQft(including pakrking spaces) including the GBA then the total mall area can be obtained. Which is equalent to figures provided by contractor too. As I said many times before the most credible data regarding mall area is the one provided by the contractor in this case. This figure is obviously equalent to the value obtained by substarcting the fig provided by SEIAA and hotel area. I'm not saying that SEIAA document is wrong in any way. Thank you!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lesly95 (talkcontribs) 07:31, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Remember to sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~). Hotel in a mall complex is nothing new. Malls like Mall of Dubai, Mall of America etc have hotel or hotels in the mall complex. [5], [6], [7], [8]. It's common. Note that the figure here is the total BUA of the whole complex. Not GLA. Most Wikipedia articles about Indian malls use the BUA instead of GLA because of the lack of credible sources of GLA. Several sources says that the similar mall from the same developer you mentioned above has a hotel included it's BUA. [9], [10], while several sources don't mention the hotel.[11]
Anyway, for better clarity, lets analyze the sources in question one by one.

1: The architect's [12] website which says the mall has a GBA of 108,006 sqm (1162566 sq.ft), which is very different from all the other sources.

2: The architect's PDF file which says the mall has a BUA of 93443, again very different from all the other sources.

3: The contractor's blog website [13] says the mall has a built-up area of 22,73,000 sq. ft. the same source also says that One of the prime attractions of the mall will be a 5-star hotel of 215403 sq.ft. It is not clear that weather this value is included in the initial figure or not. You are saying that by calculating the individual floor areas from the architect's PDF file will show the same value as the contractor's blog. But yet the BUA's of the hotel is different in both of the sources. If you need to do calculations to find the value and compare it to other sources, ie, if you have to do original research for the reference, then it is not a good source. Article statements should not rely on unclear or inconsistent passages.

4: The State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority's document by the Government of Kerala [14], which clearly says the BUA of the project is 2501532 sq.ft and this include every built up area of the mall.

Among all this, the SEIAA document, which is an important government document is undoubtedly the best source available for the BUA. AG47 Talk 18:33, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How this can become the largest mall in India. this mall GLA is only 0.66 million sq ft and the total area that too mall + hotel + car park + convention center is 2 million. DLF mall of India GLA itself is 2 million and Sharat city capital mall Hyderabad GLA is 2 million and total area is 2.7 million sq feet. How much boasting is happening here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samsam111 (talkcontribs) 10:59, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
