Adduct?[edit]

Is it an "adduct" or it is more correct to put it as an "adduct-forming chemical", for adduct consists of both DNA and the chemical? --CopperKettle 05:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing out the problem. I modified the text to fix this as well as several other inaccuracies. Cheers. Boghog2 (talk) 07:03, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'v upped the image to the Commons. --CopperKettle 07:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The second way[edit]

  • PMID 17311424 ; from a free fulltext:

The pyrimidopurinone adduct, M1dG, forms from reactions of 2‘-deoxyguanosine (dG) with either the DNA peroxidation product, base propenal (8−10), or the lipid peroxidation product, malondialdehyde (10−12) (Scheme 1).

Opps. I guess that I misinterpreted the citations. So M1G is the DNA adduct while pyrimido[1,2-a]purin-10(3H)-one is the product of repair of the DNA adduct. I will revise in the next day or two to correct the error. Thanks for catching my mistake Cheers. Boghog2 (talk) 22:13, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is somewhat confusing. M1G is pyrimido[1,2-a]purin-10(3H)-one while M1dG is the product of repair of the DNA adduct. I will expand the article to include the second pathway. Cheers. Boghog2 (talk) 18:37, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think article is now accurate, but perhaps not very accessible to the general reader. I will try to make it clearer by adding a graphic of the reaction scheme when I find some time. Boghog2 (talk) 20:54, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
