What is Magisk?

[edit]

This page states that Magisk is an Android app to hide the rootedness, while sources such as themagisk.com/what-is-magisk/ say: "Magisk is a popular Android rooting solution...", which is in my opinion more than just an Android app.

Unfortunately, even the github home of Magisk does not explain what Magisk is.

This is confusing for a newcomer which tries to find out what Magisk is. Can anyone clarify this? Lcla (talk) 13:26, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Magisk is no more. if people wish to know what Magisk is, then they could search Who/What is User Root.
It wasn't just an app. It was the upgradable Swiss Army knife of mobile applications. The primary feature it implemented was a sort of... toast notification and manager. See Wikipedia contributors. (2021, December 23). Pop-up notification. In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 12:37, April 12, 2022, from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pop-up_notification&oldid=1061705310
As Zygote.. it's the process that lives acts as the "broker" on Windows systems and works as the renderer in the browser 2600:100F:B06C:FECB:2D1E:8E6F:9469:B56F (talk) 12:49, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When was the project discontinued? That should be added to the article. Valgrus Thunderaxe (talk) 21:56, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Technically it's rolled over into another project. What you find on Github, gitlab, Google search, wikis ... Is the best you're going to find (unless intent to fall victim of many new "Goods and services").
Honestly, unless you're intending to venture to the realm of security and computer research professional -- or fit into category of seasoned programmer (like finishing a massive project) , networking engineer (Sys Ops/Admin) , there's really zero reason to dig further unto this topic.
If you're curious and must know more, see this reference i just found at US patent trademark website and Justia. No wiki admins gonna be removing stuff there... That much i can say for sure. https://trademarks.justia.com/888/60/magisk-88860434.html
Or do a search on just the trademark image using the name of the wiki page... If that's to vague then see the SuperUser wiki. If you find any of that sightly confusing, then this isn't a topic you're gonna find a happy ending to. Polypsychosis (talk) 12:40, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is the licence, err Trademark/patent holder of the software. Atleast according to the art work with assigned serial numbers. Someone check it out. My be reference worthy. You decide. Seems someone has been busy.

Not easy or simple as wiki page claims!

As i read it's a long difficult progress if you don't have at least basic programmer skills i would stay away from this. The directions talk about backing up and protecting and talks about files ive never heard of. But what i did get a feeling of is using this there is a good chance of destroying your device! I rooted my last tablet back in 2016 by copying someone elses root program and it was FAR easier and far more understandable than trying to install this confusing mess. The way Things are mentioned as you read you think to myself what the heck are they talking about? I just want to root my tablet! Please make the directions step by step and please explain what and where files are located and what they are for, what is the purpose or explain why we are doing this as sometimes files are named different or in other areas but making it clear will help everyone a lot more thank you! I don't have time to wait so I will be using a clearer and easier program. 173.3.24.206 (talk) 15:45, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
