  • The decision was to merge to sausage.

Do we really need this article? Is makkara really that different from the countless types of sausages all around the world? — JIP | Talk 12:18, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am a Finn and I dont think it is. Similar sausage is eaten in Sweden, for example. There it is just called with different name. Tuohirulla puhu 23:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah... i agree, it could go with the other sausages.

This article is trash. There are no facts, only a tourist-style opinion. I think this article should not be merged but removed. -- [JeeJee] 80.221.56.130 17:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Makkara is just the Finnish word for sausage. So it is not true that "makkara" are found in other parts of Scandinavia aswell. But sausages are. There is also an article about Danish sausages (pølser). I think both articles should be deleted, shortened and merged into the Sausage article. The uniqueness of Finnish and Danish sausages are vastly exaggerated. Everywhere it is just some not-so-delicious parts of pigs which are ground beyond recognition and put into a (mostly artificial) gut. --Sasper 04:36, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have SO (THIS SO SHOULDNT BE HERE!!!!!!!!!!) right. In Finland we do have very good sausages as well. This makkara-article has not a leg to stand on. It is like if we Finns wrote about scottish Haggis as a model example of Brittish food. -- JeeJee -- 80.221.56.130 19:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also this article is full of incorrectnesses. For example Kabanossi is only a trade name for one sausage made by a company named HK-Ruokatalo. Verimakkara is not really a counterpart of Chorizo. The correct translation is blood sausage. I could go on and on and on...Why this article is not already merged with article Sausage? I feel I do not have skills (knowledge of language) to merge these two articles myself. If you think I have a lack of competence, I can warrant you that I have worked over 10 years in Finnish meat industry, so I know about what I am talking. -- JeeJee(fi) 16:45, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So everybody agrees, it should be merged? I'll try to fix it up, then...
