There was an article on the mining of deep ocean manganese nodules at Metal mining, I merged and redirected it into this article. The mining section needs to become a little stronger integrated but actually isn't bad. RJFJR 03:11, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
There is a reference to the effect that the nodules were first discovered in 1803, not 1868: http://www.cartage.org.lb/en/themes/Sciences/Earthscience/Oceanography/OceanSediments/Manganesenodules/Manganesenodules.htm
Is this source credible? If so I'd like to update the page to reflect this.

Proposed merge
[edit]Ferromanganese nodules appears to be a synonym for polymetallic or manganese nodules. Multiple reliable sources support this, eg. [1]. Hence I propose to merge Ferromanganese nodules into this article. Lithopsian (talk) 17:04, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Lithopsian: agreed. Support merging as ferromanganese nodules seems to be a class of manganese nodules with a certain mineral or trace metal composition. RFZYNSPY talk 06:19, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support Ehrbar (talk) 16:50, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Support merge. If that's something IP editors can do. 192.77.12.11 (talk) 08:23, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 18:16, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
