Having personally spoken with the director, I can put to rest the "rumor" that Vincent Ward financed Map of the Human Heart with money he got from directing Aliens 3. He was, after all, basically fired off that film when his vision (specifically, his idea of how the art direction should govern the pace and tone of the film) disagreed with some of the backer's ideas. He was replaced long before Aliens 3 even went into production, and the 3.5 million it took to make Map of the Human Heart came from private investors, the way it usually does. Ward make nothing approaching that from the pre-production work he did on Aliens 3. Hence I have taken the liberty of deleting references to this rumor in the hope that I have settled it.
