Moving Margaret Sullivan[edit]

I've just completed "fixing" what I saw as a problem--namely, that Margaret Sullivan was an article about an unknown bureaucrat, despite the fact that there were at least two other Margaret Sullivans that were clearly more well-known (and one was clearly more important as an encyclopedic figure). However, I have not done anything like this in over ten years, and I now realize that I kind of screwed up. Instead of "moving" the article, I simply created Margaret Sullivan (bureaucrat) and moved the material over there. I realized my error when I saw that the talk page material was still here, and then realized I should have moved this. I do apologize.

I actually came to the realization of my error whilst being diligent about repairing any links that I may have broken. And I must say, doing this was an affirmation of my original perspective, that is, that Margaret Sullivan should not go to the bureaucrat. Why? This was actually an orphan article. That's right, not one link that directed here was supposed to direct here. There were a few that were meant for the modern journalist, and the biggest number were actually misspellings that were intended for Margaret Sullavan, but there were zero links for the bureaucrat. So while I guess my execution was flawed, my assessment was correct. Unschool 18:34, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gorthian: Well, I'm not sure if you saw my note above, which was written before you messaged me on my talk page. As you can see, I was already aware of my error when you wrote me. What I did not know was how to correct it, and I came here thinking to take the steps that you told me about. But if I'm not mistaken, it looks like you already handled everything for me, for which I thank you. Unschool 12:54, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Unschool: No, I ran across your message here after I had left the one on your talk page, and realized I hadn’t needed to do that after all. But I did post a {{histmerge}}, and it was taken care of by an admin. So all’s well that ends well. :-) — Gorthian (talk) 19:16, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
