More specific critique on the quality standards: to begin with, the reference to Strype in the first line needs to be given (what work? what date?). It's not enough to have just the title in the bibliography. Secondly, there are many exile cities listed in the introduction, but only 3 are explained; and the treatment is very uneven. Finally, the use of links is also very uneven. A number of cross-references are left out. Itahist 12:01, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Were the Marian exiles Anglicans or Protestants? Was it possible for them to have been Calvinist? Calvin was still alive at the time; I'm not sure that there was such a thing as `Calvinist' doctrine, nor that (if there was such a thing) it had penetrated England so far that there were `Calvinists' in England at the time. Troubles at Frankfurt - need to split out

[edit]

This subsection of the material is significant, but it unbalances the article. In fact it is clear that the struggle 20 years later over the Cox-Knox debate shouldn't bleed over too much into this article: it needs its own Elizabethan context. So I invoke WP:Summary and propose to split it out. Charles Matthews (talk) 16:59, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant survivors?

[edit]

Were there any known Protestants who remained in England and survived Mary Tudor's reign? So far,I've only read about Protestants who were either persecuted,or fled to mainland Europe.
