Article reassessed and graded as start class. --dashiellx (talk) 11:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The performance of this Mark V craft is probably well in excess of the claimed 50 knots. Given its v-hull design, low surface drag, and rated horsepower of approx. 4600, it can be deduced that the top speed is certainly in excess of 85 knots or 100 m.p.h. Given the Super Unlimited Class offshore powerboats are rated at the same approximate horsepower, with somewhat less aero and hydro drag characteristics, it can be deduced that the Mark V is capable of similar speeds. I would estimate over 100 m.p.h. in light sea conditions and slightly more in absolutely smooth conditions. This is quite stunning performance for a military craft. This even exceeds the 70-80 knot performance of Marine Corp. LCACs in lightly loaded configurations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.240.173.95 (talk) 05:36, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
