Creation of McCulloch's Path article

[edit]

The purpose of this article is to explain the role the McCulloch's Path served in the opening of the Colonial Western territory. In September, 1784 George Washington makes note of this path in his diary, during his travels into the Ohio basin in the interest of a commercial union between the Great Lakes and the Potomac River. --Gohens84 (talk) 04:50, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for things to do with this article

[edit]
  • Research spelling – sometimes the path is written as McCulloch's Path and other times McCullough's paths is used. I have commonly seen it as McCulloch's Path in other Wikipedia articles written about this period. Based on this I use the McCulloch's Path spelling for this article. I also added the [[ ]] wiki link tags to those Wikipedia articles referencing McCulloch's Path - so they now link to this story. However, I have not come across a solid verifiable source regaridng the spelling and finding one would be most helpful.
  • Find a map with the path clearly marked. The one in Washington’s September, 1784 journal is the best I’ve found thus far.
  • Determine exactly what the route of the McCulloch's Path was and what points it connected.
  • Determine if any current road or route follows any part of the old McCulloch's Path.
  • Other suggestions for next steps?
