Template[edit]

Is this enormous template really necessary? Also, why do student government representatives get more prominence in the template than the actual academic programs of the faculty? This isn't an article about the Arts Undergraduate Society, it's an article about the Faculty of Arts. Darkcore 01:01, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The template is a concise way to get across information, I figured it was better than making 6 different lists. And if you feel that the Programs should be above the Governance, that's fine, I can just switch them. And as much as you're right, it's not an article on the aus, the student governance is equally as important as the administrative governance. pm_shef 03:21, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you. The programs should be listed, yes, but I don't think it's necessary to list, for example, Faculty Representatives to the University Senate or the AUS executive. Maybe we could just link to a McGill website that has a list of these people? It just seems silly to have a huge template with all these names that most non-McGillians wouldn't really care about, on an article that basically consists of four sentences. In terms of information, it would be nice to see some text about the history of the faculty, maybe a textual blurb about the administration (student and otherwise), and some text about the buildings (Arts, Leacock). Pictures would be nice, too. In fact, all the McGill-related articles are in desperate need of pictures. But, anyway, back to the template - do you agree that we should scale it down? • Regretfully ya. I had fun making it, and I'm a fan of boxes in general (as can be seen in the plethora of userboxes on my userpage), but ya, you're right. I'll make the changes tommorow probably unless you want to make them. pm_shef 20:59, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to make the changes. I'll also change the other faculty articles. Thanks. Darkcore 21:29, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would, but I haven't found any appropriate sources (in terms of history, etc). I'll keep looking online, but I think we'd have to refer to more traditional sources for that kind of information. Since you're a current student and in Montreal (I live in New York), maybe you could do a little digging on your end? Darkcore 22:07, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
