Assessment comments

[edit]

I think with a few more references, we should be able to get this through GA now. The article presents a good overview of the subject from design through production and use to retirement. Some possible areas for further improvement are:

  • The lead section is still very short and does not present a complete summary of the entire article.
  • There is only one reference. A few more references would be helpful here; I'll see what I can find out of my own resources later this week.
  • The end of the service life section briefly mentions that one was preserved in St. Louis. Perhaps someone in the area could visit the museum for a couple photos.

  • Splendid work! My father worked on the Milwaukee Road, I rode the Olympian in my youth and I'm well versed in the history of the Road. Nobody could have said it better. Please continue to contribute on this subject Grumpyoldgeek (talk) 04:25, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Max speed for infobox

[edit]

Since there are two separate ratings of the top speed by two legitimate sources (operator and manufacturer), would something like the following be appropriate?

| maxspeed= Milwaukee Road: {{convert|70|mph|km/h|0|abbr=on}}<br>General Electric: {{convert|90|mph|km/h|0|abbr=on}}

It formats something like this:
Milwaukee Road: 70 mph (113 km/h)
General Electric: 90 mph (145 km/h)
I don't know of any other instances of multiple speed ratings that it could be based off of, and the infobox documentation didn't mention anything about it so this is a possible resolution.
