Move Proposal

[edit]

The Current heading of the article is too generic. I am sure other countries have similar ministries for transport. So I propose moving this article to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (India)Andy anno (talk) 18:51, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - Please mention pages of such ministries. -- Pankaj Jain Capankajsmilyo (talk · contribs · count) 04:31, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Murthal Toll plaza damaging reputation of Ministry

[edit]

Dear Nitin Ji, This has reference to public comments on jamini imrovements by BJP govt. Your views are excellent by all means but People face traffic jams and costly travel to Murthal Industrial belt when three toll are supported by your ministry. Panipat, Gharaunda in Karnal & now Bhagan in Murthal.Pl look into the matter and do whatever required to maintain your image.

technical considerations expected while preparing DPR for two lane highway with paved shoulders on EPC basis

[edit]

MORTH has taken an initiative to provide efficient transport by converting state highways into Highways with two lane paved shoulder on EPC basis under Ministry guidelines. i have found following shortcomings in most of the DPRs prepared for Maharashtra state 1) The details of the Geotechnical investigations carried out for Major and Minor Bridges justifying the type of foundations proposed, depths etc is not shared and contractor is asked to verify and quote this will encourage the risk amount included in the workings by the contractor. There is no harm in providing data as money is spent on DPR 2) The speed is mentioned to be followed as per the IRC SP 73 2015/ 2018 guidelines but the land acquisition is not proposed accordingly for fitment of alignment within PROW. thus leading to compromising in speed and geometry and very purpose of making the highway with higher specifications is compromising it is just replacing the existing crust with PQC without removing the blind spots, curve improvements, thus vehicles will move at varying speeds and hence the concept is compromising for fuel economy and faster movement of vehicles with perishable goods to market 3) The retained/ widened structures should be carried out with the condition survey and such data be shared in document as contractor is expected to maintain the highway, non sharing of this information and putting clause that contractor to get it done at his cost will escalate the pricing without reason

4) The trial pits taken and the traffic survey done and deflection coefficients with BBD carried out be shared in tender justifying the overlay from layers of GSB, WMM or bituminous crust as an indicator, contractor may consider or get it done is his choice. the price element will be substantially reduced.

5) Substantial time of contractor is lost in seeking permits for quarry for rubble stone, Murum etc is lost and first milestone cannot be achieved. if the arrangements be made with state governments to provide such data of availability of the sources for quarry and murum for deepening the water reservoirs or creating the one should be made available on appointed date. Authority be made responsible to reduce such timelines.

6) utility shifting be done by the Authority themselves before award of works as per proposed ROW so that time is not lost in duplicating efforts again by contractor, seek approvals and projects get delayed owing to these non trivial activities

7) tree felling contracts be awarded directly by Authority in line with construction programme of contractor or at least 25% of the project length be made available on appointed date free of trees and utilities to commence works — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vindeepms (talkcontribs) 07:17, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Ministry of Surface Transport into Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. I think the content in Ministry of Surface Transport can easily be explained in the context of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and a merge would not cause any article-size or weighting problems in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
