Strong leadership skills?
[edit]Can anyone show me the basis for the claim that Misa has strong leadership skills? She has never, NEVER showed any of the qualities of a true leader. She's let her initial grudge with Hikaru cloud her judgment of him (for instance, look at her surprise in TV episode 8 when she found out he was going to be given two wingmen - although that episode is a MAJOR plot hole, as it doesn't conform to any Air Force procedure; this means that Hikaru would NOT be surprised by his medal award and battlefield promotion, as military personnel are ALWAYS notified of their imminent decoration, promotion and/or demotion beforehand and, of course, he would NOT be surprised by being given responsibility of a formation, because fighter pilots have to undergo formation leader training AND pass relevant tests). She's shown complete ineptitude at handling the public when it was announced that the citizens of Macross City were not allowed to leave the ship and fueled the people's wrath with her inability to communicate and interact with non-military people. She let her jealousy prevent the Macross' COC from ordering Hikaru to scramble when Quamzin attaked Onogi City. There were numerous occasions when she showed that she is clearly NOT a leader. When did she say something to bolster her subordinates' morale? When did she show that she actually could assess the potential risk for the survival of her personnel? When Kakizaki's plane was hit in episode "Blind Game", she doubted Hikaru's ability to assess the risk faced by the legendarily inept and overconfident Kakizaki. And not only that, but, just because she wanted to prove to Hikaru she wasn't just sitting in a safe and warm place, she got herself and the Vermillion Team captured by the Zentradi. Or in "Viva Maria", when she was willing to delay the capture of the Factory Satellite and risk the mission in order to investigate a potentially boobytrapped Supervision Army wreckage... Having served in an actual Air Force and having discussed Misa's actions with real military officers, she seems to be merely (or, I should say, BARELY) adequate in her duties. As for leadership skills... What leadership skills? Minmay IS a leader - her choice of words has a positive effect on others, unlike Misa's, who is - at best - awkward with words when she shows kindness and downright fans the fire when faced with a disillusioned or angry crowd. Global IS a leader. Hikaru IS a leader, as he's shown a tremendous sense of responsibility towards his squadron and the whole population he was protecting; he even earned being called "senpai" (episode 27) by the insanely talented Max Jenius. Claudia, too, IS a leader. Britai Kridanik IS a leader. But Misa? Please... Elp gr (talk) 00:24, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Oppose: In episode 6 Misa and Claudia devised a new attack strategy. In episode 7 Misa volunteered to go to the mars base to detonate the nuclear reactor and henceforth destroy the Zentradi troops. In episode 11 she correctly guessed that the Zentradi people were afraid of the unknown power of the protoculture that they believed the earthlings possessed, and hence successfully bluffed them and got important intelligence about the true agenda of the Zentradi people. In episode 21 she explained to Hikaru her theory about the Zentradi people's internal factionalism, which was later confirmed. In episode 23 she was the only one advocating welcoming the 3 defecting Zentradi soldiers (Hikaru was quickly persuaded by her, of course) and from there foresaw the possibility of negotiating peace between the two races. In episode 24 she volunteered to go to the earth to persuade the United Government to consider peace negotiation with the Zentradi. In the same episode Hikaru expressed gratitude toward her superior commanding skills, which saved him countless times in battle.

Merge
[edit]User:Amchow78 has proposed that this article be merged with Lisa Hayes

- Squilibob 04:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC) :Difference between the Japanese and English characters could be included in a section by itself.

- You're just asking for trouble and edit wars by merging them. Evan1975 06:17, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. Let's not confuse the Macross and Robotech storylines any more than already has been done. -- Corsair Armada 18:48, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Comment: After reading the description here and at Lisa Hayes I can't tell if they're the same character or not... Tocharianne 23:51, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
They're not... quite. Same source material, different story, though you could argue Misa/Lisa's character is basically the same.
Correction: OK I'm sorry I don't know how to use Wikipedia well enough to comment on this properly, so please forgive me. In this article it is mentioned that Hikaru and Misa were each other's first kiss. Can someone cite a reference for this? On the TV series ( and movie ), I seem to remember Minmay and Hikaru kiss well before Hikaru and Misa do, don't they!? ( several times, even?? ) 71.65.33.71 (talk) 17:22, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Answer: Hikaru and Misa first kissed in episode 11 "First Contact," and again in episode 12 "Big Escape." In episode 4 "Lynn Minmay," Hikaru and Minmay almost kissed but did not. Their first kiss was in episode 27 "Love Flows By." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulxobear (talk • contribs) 02:13, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Misa hiyase macross.jpg
[edit]Image:Misa hiyase macross.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with File:26rt92.jpg
[edit]The image File:26rt92.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
