Use as a De-Orbiter[edit]
Over the last few months we have had 2 large LEO satellites crash back to Earth. They both lander in the sea, however it is only a matter of time before a satellite crashes into the land. Can the MEV be used to perform a controlled re-entry? Thereby ensuring the satellite comes down in the Pacific Ocean. Andrew Swallow (talk) 10:18, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Good point Andrew. Given their purported design, it would appear it might be able to serve that purpose, especially for vehicles in LEO. I don't know if it will have sufficient delta-V capability (size) to do much with the GEO-orbit vehicles where it is apparently (first) aimed to be used.
