Flexible programs of study

[edit]

"Flexible programs of study" are found in schools all over the USA and in and of itself isn't encyclopedic. If there is something unique or nearly unique about this program, then provide a specific citation, otherwise delete it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 16:22, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Staff names

[edit]

It's customary in K-12 school articles to list the principal and maybe others who are known very well outside the school for what they do inside the school, such as a football coach who has won state titles or a teacher who few into space. Teachers, office staff, etc. are typically not named. Please consider removing this information.

Also, terms like "dedicated teacher" should be avoided, it makes the article sound spammy. See WP:PEACOCK for details. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 08:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if "full-time teachers" sound better than "dedicated teachers." Didn't realize would make it sound spammy.--JoeCool950 (talk) 02:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's much better. All teachers are dedicated to their students or they don't belong in the profession. I didn't realize "dedicated" could also mean "full-time." By the way, the secretary should be removed for the good of the article. I removed it before, you or someone else put it back, and I don't want to get into a revert war so I left it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:57, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see how the other school sites are set up. If I feel the secretary should be removed, I'll do it tonight. If I remove the secretary, I'll remove the principal also, since he's already mentioned in the infobox. Just wanted to let you know though I'll look into some more.--JoeCool950 (talk) 03:47, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As long as you are looking for schools to model from, you might want to look at featured articles for schools. Plano Senior High School is one such article, there may be others. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:28, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Summit High School, faculty size

[edit]

I couldn't find any info on the faculty size, and there doesn't seem to be any high school in the district named Summit. Please add reference and, if necessary, delete the reference to Summit.

If Summit exists, it almost certainly qualifies under WP:Notability (organizations) to have an article of its own. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:46, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Got some citations for Summit High School and Tehachapi Adult School. The citation, if you click on it shows that it's at the same address as Monroe. I also put a citation that links to the staff for Monroe. Hopefully, that helps.--JoeCool950 (talk) 09:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I renamed the school to match the reference. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:55, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Probably should match the reference.--JoeCool950 (talk) 23:18, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tehachapi Adult School

[edit]

Tehachapi Adult School is also located there. I know that for a fact, since I work there. If they decide not to have it at Monroe anymore, then I'll take it out of the artcle. I put a reference for it and the stuff in () is for the Adult School, since it's ran by the district itself. I'm surprised the district doesn't have anything for Tehachapi Adult School up on the page, but I do know that Monroe is the site for Tehachapi Adult School. If you think that there should be a separate page for Tehachapi Adult School, but mention that it's located on the Monroe High School site, then we can work on doing that. Just let me know. I'll put a red link on it, just in case. If put on it's own page, then I'll take off that stuff afterwards. Just wanted to let you know. As you can tell with the Summit reference, that Summit does exist and is located at Monroe High School. Monroe is a fairly small school, just to let you know.--JoeCool950 (talk) 09:40, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I de-linked this as it's unlikely to be notable enough to survive as an article. It's very rare than a school for adults gets an article unless it grants bachelor's degrees or higher. In particular, trade schools, high-school-completion schools, and GED schools almost never rate an article. Colleges offering only associates degrees rarely do, and even some community colleges and junior colleges may not despite offering 2- or 4-year degrees. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:55, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

At least one editor indicates he is closely associated with this school. All editors should make sure that this article remains WP:NPOV and any editor who is closely associated with this school should read WP:COI. As of a few minutes ago, I didn't see any COI issues with the article. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:57, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How do you make the artcle WP: COI, or do I just type that in the summary, or edit summary below? Let me know?--JoeCool950 (talk) 21:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The COI warning is put on by typing {{COI|date=January 2009}} at the top of the article. It's typically used when there is a COI and the article's current version is impacted by that. While some of your earlier edits would have gotten that had I know of your COI, the current version does not need it. If you want to slap {{COI|date=January 2009}} on the top of the article any time you add something new, followed by a note on the talk page asking other editors to double-check your work, that would probably be good. It's not needed for minor changes, and it's not needed if you are well-versed in Wikipedia's rules and are 100% sure you can follow them. By the way, articles aren't "COI," editors are. The COI template is used when the article is negatively affected by having been edited by an editor with a conflict of interest who did not know all of Wikipedia's rules or one who did but who deliberately or carelessly put his interests ahead of the project. Click {{COI}} to see what the COI tag looks like. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The article looks good now and don't plan on adding or changing the current article, but glad you pointed that out. If I add anything else, I'll add that tag to the top of the article.--JoeCool950 (talk) 00:07, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you do, drop me a note on my talk page. After a period of time of no changes, I'll probably de-watchlist this. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:54, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
