It is superfluous to connect this article to the ethnic group of Moravians. The Moravians in Old Salem are descendants of German-speaking Protestants from Bohemia and Moravia who sought refuge in Saxony, Germany in the first quarter of the 18th Century. They have little or nothing to do with the ethnic group. Sugarcake comes from Berlin, where it is known as Zuckerkuchen.
