Judith Powell

"Judith accompanied Moses and their children on his return Liverpool and remained there until her death": there is no reference cited for this proposition, and I can find nothing online. 45ossington (talk) 18:07, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kentish Gazette Dec 1808 (BNA) carries a report of a case of crim com (Parr v Benson) (which suggests that Moses Benson junior, the defendant, inherited upwards of £300,000 from Moses Benson senior) resulting in an award to Parr of £,1000. Much of the supporting evidence comes from an account of goings on at Lutwiche House during a race meeting. The following year, the birth of a child to "the lady of Moses Benson" (presumably Margaret Kendall) is also reported. The younger Moses Benson seems, from the press, to have been an active follower of the Turf, and a Pittite, not to mention a careful watchman over disbursements to the poor. No indication of any mixed-race origin - still less in the case of his elder brother, Ralph, an MP.Delahays (talk) 23:04, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

why "despite"???

[edit]

"Despite the apparent de facto relationship, Judith accompanied Moses and their children on his return Liverpool and remained there until her death."

shouldn't there rather be a word which means the opposite of 'despite' ?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:3032:303:4D8D:4BBE:B956:DEE4:615A (talk) 13:03, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
