I grew up on Nólsoy and I know that all sources say that Eggjaklettur is the only mountain in Nólsoy. But Eggjaklettur is only the name of the highest point. Walk some metres and you are not on Eggjaklettur anymore. The only mountain name that can be used is Høgoyggj, which means High Island. It is the name for the highest part of the island. Any other name for any mountain would simply be wrong.

Hey Jógvan! This sounds very reasonable. I have been on Høgoyggj twice, and ofcourse no one (of us tourists) cares so much about, which point has which certain name there. It is just the "Nólsoy mountain" in my mind. By the way, it looks impressive in the morning, when you arrive the Faroes for your first time - something like "wow, how high are the cliffs here! Great - oh look - a puffin!". Well, well, one learns quickly, that Nólsoy is quite "flat" and a cliff is something completely different here (not just an ordinary mountain rising out of the sea). But however, Nólsoy is one of the most interesting places in the Faroes to me. Hope, you write a little bit more one day... ;-) -- Arne List 21:39, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
