Nadhmi Auchi obama tony rezko connection
i came to this article hoping to read up on it. i know how hard it is to put anything bad about obama on wikipedia but its just a suggestion. some stuff about it can be found http://www.suntimes.com/news/watchdogs/817377,CST-NWS-watchdog28.article if any editor is interested. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.80.96.75 (talk) 05:23, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Was Obama connection only reason why article was tagged for neutrality?
Gee, I wonder how this was nominated to be checked for neutrality... oh, yes, it throws Barack Obama in a bad light that both the Chicago Tribune and the London Times have run articles showing that Obama's in the pocket of a man who was involved up to his scalp in the Oil-For-Food scandal. vfrickey (talk) 11:59, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
And now, the article has just been redacted of all content (regardless of its provenance in two major world newspapers) which may, by its implications, be unfavorable to a presidential candidate. No argument, just redacted. The people who did it won't even explain why. vfrickey (talk) 12:07, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Discussion about the Phantom Editor who changed this Article on August 28th, 2008
August 2008
Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If they continue to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you! Edits are not vandalism. Please ensure recent edits constitute vandalism before re-reporting.. This is a content dispute that should be brought directly in the article's discussion page or directly with the user. -- lucasbfr talk 15:14, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
response to Lucasbfr re: vandalism of entry on Nadhmi Auchi
As I understand it, edits should be commented on, as should content disputes. Neither has happened with respect to the changes made this morning to the entry on Nadhmi Auchi. Whoever made the change just went in and made it with no explanation or comment whatever, making it very difficult to differentiate between this change and any other bit of politically-motivated vandalism.vfrickey (talk) 15:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks to Whoever Restored the Nadhmi Auchi Article
I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to whoever restored the original article on Nadhmi Auchi. Considering the nature of the relationship which is described, wikipedia.org is performing a service to its readers by simply presenting the facts as they have been reported in large-circulation, reputable newspapers (which have every incentive in the world to check facts of this nature before printing them) and letting the reader research the references with the hyperlinks which the author included.
Again, thanks for putting the original article back.vfrickey (talk) 16:19, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- User:Annoysumo seems to be a single purpose account designed to remove critical but well referenced information from this article. I'm not convinced this information should be removed without discusson or explanation. MikeHobday (talk) 07:37, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- I think we should keep in mind the possibility that Annoysumo may be the subject of the article (himself).Civilizededucation (talk) 09:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Fraud conviction
Is there a particular reason why Auchi's conviction for fraud is not included in this article? I know the whole Tony Rezko issue has been subject to significant debate, but it would seem that the Elf Acquitaine scandal, and Auchi's conviction, are public knowledge and not subject to any of the same innuendo or uncertainty. I think that a balanced entry on this individual ought to include properly-cited information on his conviction, particularly if his accolades are listed.
I edited the article anonymously a long time ago to include this event, including references to UK newspapers discussing the case, but these changes have been reverted. Apologies if i'm the anonymous editor mentioned below and did things the wrong way round (although I think that case was to do with Rezko, which I've never edited on, rather than Elf Acquitaine).
Considering the above, the fact that I've now got myself a user account, and the exhortation to be bold (Wikipedia:Be bold), I'm going to re-insert a short paragraph on Auchi's conviction.(Smells like content (talk) 13:58, 21 July 2009 (UTC))
iraqi anti-Israel billionaire's connection to Nick Clegg
A controversial Iraqi-British billionaire who funds one of the UK's most strongly anti- Zionist websites organised a banquet in honour of Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, and a fundraiser for Susan Kramer, the party's candidate in the high-profile seat of Richmond Park. Richmond Park. Nadhmi Auchi, 73, was convicted of fraud in the giant French Elf-Aquitaine oil company trial in 2003 and given a suspended sentence.
Mr Auchi is fiercely protective of his reputation and has used libel lawyers Carter-Ruck to force several newspapers and blogs to remove references to his activities. Despite Lord Steel's approaches, Mr Lamb raised this issue in a Commons debate on libel in December 2008: "It is alleged that Mr Auchi and his lawyers, Carter Ruck, have been making strenuous efforts to close down public debate."

Auchi WANTED by Interpol !
"Interpol had a case against the seventh richest man in the UK, who happens to be Iraqi. Nadhmi Auchi was to have been arrested. (The Guardian). But, because he had personal relationship with top UK government ministers (who just love the rich), he was left alone.
Interpol obliged, too. So, who is Interpol really for, if rich men are let off free as birds because of their links to government and money? It can only be for those mortals lower down the social ladder – people like you and me. Talk of international crime agencies is just a farce, when money can buy off the world’s policeman! The British police also did not arrest the man. We can only suggest that his contacts with government would turn over some rather nasty surprises for ministers! Blair himself knew what was going on, if he was not party to it all (which, of course, he denied, even though he ran his Cabinet like a Kaiser, commanding them what to think, do and say, and what colour socks they must wear). In Parliament they all denied any contact with Auchi. It was a direct lie, but no-one did anything about it, just as no-one will do anything about Obama handing over the USA to Interpol (and, by default, to the UN)." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.63.39.229 (talk) 20:09, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Mark Kirk Alleged Ties To Saddam Hussein
On Aug 9, 2010, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Congressman Mark Kirk said, "According to the New York Times, he was a banker to Saddam Hussein. And According to the Observer of London, he was a middleman in the billion-dollar naval arms deal between Hussein and the Italian Navy." Can anyone track down citations or sources that would support or negate Mark Kirk's claims? Sun-Times: Kirk tries to link Giannoulias to Saddam Hussein Mr JM 01:10, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Fraud conviction again
I'm dismayed to see that properly-sourced information about Auchi's 2003 conviction for fraud has been removed by user D2109 (account since deleted, it seems) without any explanation. I have re-added it. Considering that the article currently includes a substantial section outlining Auchi's various civic awards, I would suggest that to exclude a serious criminal conviction risks making the article biased in favour of Auchi. If it's removed again without explanation then I would consider raising the issue on the BLP noticeboard. (Smells like content (talk) 01:56, 30 December 2010 (UTC))
- Middle East Online is found among the references already, and seems to be the only source for some of the praise and awards bestowed on the subject--praise which I've removed in two edits just now. Drmies (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Web Scrubbing
Should there not be documentation in this piece of Mr Auchi's use of defamation lawyers to remove commentary from the main British Newspapers, and political magazines? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.136.165.132 (talk) 07:59, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
