GA review

[edit]
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
Prose is good, but it could use some polishing. Also, you should add non-breaking spaces.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
    Entire route description is unsourced.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
Lead needs to be expanded, as it is currently very stubby.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
Images aren't required for GA, but it'd be really nice to have one.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Overall, this is a good article, but there are some issues to be resolved. Until then, I've placed the article on-hold. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:42, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Much better. Now passes the criteria. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 18:26, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further suggestions for improvement

[edit]
  • Was it still a plank road after the Skaneateles Railroad Company took it over? It sounds as if it was but it's not explicitly clear
  • Track down when highway was taken over by state
    • Probably whenever the Skaneateles Railroad Company went under
      • references to said company existed as late as 1904 - was this a court decision that the company lost and eventually faulted from?
      • another reference to it from 1915 - based on dates below the company must have gone under before the case was resolved
    • November 1906 - contract was let for work on SH 487 (Valley Dr between Elbridge and Jordan village lines)
    • 1908 - Valley Dr was included as easternmost part of legislative Route 20 (Elbridge-Rochester)
      • Valley Dr was SH 5630 in Jordan (to Clinton St) and SH 5080 in Elbridge - the SH 5*** designations confirm the LR 20 status
      • SH 5630's contract was let in May 1919 and SH 5080's contract was let in March 1911 - so it appears the SH 487 portion is/was the oldest part of Valley Dr
