Article creation

[edit]

Seeing that Nicolas Peyrac did not have an article yet at the English Wikipedia, I decided to create one. I drew on multiple sources (see external links) including the French Wikipedia. The latter does not have a very good article unfortunately, with many facts uncheckable. Todo: I'd like to add a "personal" section, but the French article's reference to his wife I cannot substantiate, and there's some mentioning on various sources about the birth of a daughter, a "romantic break-up" (divorce?) and a new partner, but nothing substantial enough to write here. Photograph

[edit]

I'd like to add a photograph, but cannot find a free one. I'll e-mail some copyright holders of photos I found to see if they want to release one to the public. If anyone has a good one I'd like to hear (or just add it, of course). Jalwikip (talk) 13:53, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, got permission to use a low-res photograph taken from here: http://blog.athos99.com/nicolas-peyrac-a-la-fete-de-lespoir/. Permission review still pending, so it may disappear again. Jalwikip (talk) 21:55, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

[edit]

Can anyone with a decent grasp of French please check the translations I've given for the novel titles? I used Google translate and a dictionary, but especially the translation of "la" with "her" in J'ai su dès le premier jour que je la tuerais may be incorrect. Jalwikip (talk) 13:55, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, checked the French with a native French speaker and corrected where necessary. Jalwikip (talk) 08:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography

[edit]

I did not mention at all his film career, as IMDB provides the only information, without details. If anyone knows more feel free to add. Jalwikip (talk) 13:57, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alias

[edit]

Any info on the meaning of the name "Nicolas Peyrac" is welcomed, as I couldn't find any. I've also made an assumption as to when he started to use this alias, feel free to correct. Jalwikip (talk) 14:03, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tense

[edit]

I used the present tense throughout the article. I'm not sure whether this is acceptable, perhaps I should change it to the past tense? Jalwikip (talk) 14:36, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I changed everything to past tense now. Jalwikip (talk) 13:38, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback from WP:FEED

[edit]

Hi! I'm going to respond to your questions and concerns, then I'll give additional feedback. Just so that you know in the future, it might be easier if you list all of your questions in one section, instead of creating a new section for each one.

  • I'm not sure about your translations. I don't speak French very well, but I think that they're at least a little off. I think that until you find someone who's fluent, I would avoid giving translations.
  • If you only know about his film career from IMBD and haven't actually seen proof of it elsewhere, I would remove that from the external links. IMBD isn't always trustworthy, and sometimes there are issues because people have the same names.
  • Present tense isn't correct for an encyclopedia. If you're writing about something that is still happening, it's conventional to use the present tense, but real-life events that happened in the past should be written about in the past tense.

Other than that, you need to establish Notability and back it up with reliable sources. The specific requirements for notability in a musician are at WP:MUSIC. I hope this was helpful. If you need more feedback or suggestions, you can ask at WP:FEED or at my talk page. Annalise (talk) 03:26, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That was all very helpful, thank you. Jalwikip (talk) 08:18, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Found this: http://www.closermag.fr/article/nicolas-peyrac-rend-hommage-a-sa-femme-elle-m-a-sauve-la-vie-219820 but my French is too bad to translate it. Just leaving it here for anyone who wants to add stuff from it. Jalwikip (talk) 16:08, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
