Continuity

[edit]
  • From the perspective of the youngest of the three Rivers, "First Night"/"Last Night" takes place immediately after she feigned killing the Doctor in "The Wedding of River Song" & "The Impossible Astronaut" and her unseen trial.
  • From the perspective of the oldest of the three Rivers, "Last Night" takes place prior to "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead" and "The Husbands of River Song".
  • The younger two Rivers dislike the green dress in "First Night"/"Last Night", which her eldest self wears in "Last Night". She also wore it at the start of "Day of the Moon" when she dove backwards out of the skyscraper, into the TARDIS' pool, indicating that, from the perspective of her imprisoned adult self, "The Impossible Astronaut" & "Day of the Moon" occurred between her second and eldest selves in "Last Night".
  • "Last Night" continues the recurring theme of River and her mother, Amy Pond, addressing the beacon bulb atop the TARDIS, something previously referred to only during The Daleks' Master Plan and Enlightenment. The Doctor distracts the eldest of the three Rivers by sending her outside to check the bulb. Amy asked in "Meanwhile in the TARDIS 1" if the bulb ever needed changing. River asked near the end of "The Angels Take Manhattan" if the bulb needed changing after the TARDIS took a visible beating from the time distortion fields in New York. The Doctor changed the bulb in "Pond Life: August" whilst parked across the road from Amy & Rory's house.
  • The Doctor tells River (who is off-camera) in "Good Night" to instruct Marilyn to take the bi-plane. He claimed in "The Impossible Astronaut" to be late for bi-plane flying lessons; at the beginning of that episode, he appears in the Laurel and Hardy film, The Flying Deuces in which their characters are training to fly bi-planes. In "A Christmas Carol", the Doctor accidentally marries Marilyn Monroe.
  • Its revealed in "The Husbands of River Song" that after the two Doctors meet in "Last Night", the Doctor ultimately cancels the date at the Singing Towers of Darillium. He continuously does this to avoid an end to his adventures with River. Its not until the events of "The Husbands of River Song" that the Twelfth Doctor finally takes her on this last date.

I have moved all this from the Continuity section which is also removed in its entirety until any of this can be sourced properly, which is the least work that it requires. Some of it does not belong there at all regardless of what sources may be found. First, please look up how terms such as "theme" are used and what they mean when writing about fiction. Second, themes are not continuity, continuity is not a theme. Please take the time to look at other Continuity sections on other recent pages to get a sense of what it is. Third, making an inference, such as when episodes take place, based on nothing more than what colour and style of dress River is wearing is WP:SYNTH and very poorly thought through synthesis at that, because you are effectively saying River can only have worn that same dress once and "must" have worn it directly from one episode to the other--but in order for you to make this inference you are making use of the appearance of what may (or may not) be the same dress (where is the source that it is the same dress--see where this takes us?) in two different episodes, which destroys the unstated premise that it appears only once in the first place. I believe this does need to be included, as clarifying information. Without this, the text implies that Eleven was the one who took River to the Towers when it's been shown that it will be Twelve. I agree that it can detract from the main text, but it shouldn't be excluded as it is relevant. I tried to insert this as a n.b., but I wasn't successful. If you or somebody else can, please do. But also, please leave the "Husbands" reference alone.Ooznoz (talk) 20:17, 14 January 2016 (UTC)Ooznoz[reply]
