Waste of money?

[edit]

Is this project a waste of money? I've heard arguments supporting the widening of Port River Expressway and Port Wakefield road.101.178.163.19 (talk) 05:56, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Possible merge

[edit]

This road will open in a week or two. Signs are going up. It will be called North-South Motorway (there has been a hint at Waterloo Corner interchange for a while, but I gather the southern interchange signs aren't covered up). Should we merge this article to North–South Motorway like we merged the separate Adelaide–Crafers Highway article into South Eastern Freeway after it was opened with the same name? --Scott Davis Talk 11:18, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the articles should be merged, but we should wait until the road opens and/or the name is officially confirmed (even though in all likelihood it will be named NSM). – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 01:04, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I thought it might have been in today's Government Gazette, but it isn't. [RAVNet http://maps.sa.gov.au/ravnet/] allows B-doubles and road trains to use the ramp from Port River Expressway to go south, but not to go north yet. It names the new road North South Motorway but still shows heavy vehicles can use the old ramp from Port Wakefield Road to Northern Expressway, and not the new road. --Scott Davis Talk 04:20, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Roads dataset from DPTI says that it is the North South Motorway route M2, under construction. I don't know how authoritative this dataset is. The route numbers dataset does not show it yet. Both still show the "Port Wakefield Road Ramp to Nuriootpa" at the northern interchange in its original position before the temporary ramp that closed a few weeks ago. --Scott Davis Talk 06:47, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the road has opened and we can confirm that the Northern Connector Project is a part of the North-South Motorway, I've merged the two pages. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 04:35, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
