Concern

[edit]

I am concerned by this edit. The effect is to change a factually accurate entry to one that is vague and obscured on the pretext of the International context edit summary. I question the motives for this. MRSC 12:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain. Yorkshire Phoenix United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland God's own county 10:22, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Look, you proudly declare on your userpage that you are in favour of traditional counties, and dislike people talking about England. You then proceed on a mass editing, which results in an ugly mismash of links, which also happens to (a) have "north Yorkshire" instead of "North Yorkshire", and (b) de-links England.
Ooh, what conclusions are we possibly supposed to draw from this? Your pretext has shifted variously: but it remains a pretext. "International context" is all very well : but in reality "United Kingdom" is a less well recognised term than "England" outside these isles. The Act of Union is another red herring : so what? "England" has remained a legal concept since then: and was most recently re-asserted by the Interpretation Act 1978. And for better or worse, the four parts of the United Kingdom have greatly different legal and political settlements and arrangements.
By the way, as the person who drew up those maps of England, and is in no way an English nationalist, I consider your little infobox attacking my decision (which was made primarily on æsthetic and constitency grounds - I would be willing to explain further why this is a good idea), really quite nasty and spiteful. Please remove it. Morwen - Talk 16:13, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
