I have added this page, classified it as a stub of high priority.Mrchapel0203 (talk) 08:45, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fork[edit]

Please explain why we need an article on this title as well as the numerator article. Indeed, why do we need numerator and denominator articles at all: would it not be better for both to redirect to Fraction_(mathematics)? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 23:40, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The currently existing Numerator page is a different use of the word numerator with the mathematical definition tacked on. It was my attempt to separate the two meanings of the word as is done elsewhere on the wiki. As for why there is a denominator page, I only started to flesh it out, I did not create it. That being said, both numerator and denominator are important concepts in computational mathematics and deserve their status as pages because of that importance.Mrchapel0203 (talk) 00:52, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they are important but each term has little meaning without reference to they other. They are better discussed together. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 00:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, that seems like a pretty arbitrary reason as lots of mathematics terms have little meaning when discussed by themselves. For instance: finite vs. infinite and countable vs. uncountable. Mrchapel0203 (talk) 01:09, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, had a change of heart. Maybe you are right. I have changed both numerator and denominator to redirects.Mrchapel0203 (talk) 01:31, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
