History of the Department

[edit]

I was thinking about adding a section on the history of the OJJDP. For example, the federal agency was established by the JJDPA (Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act) in 1974. Acsieling (talk) 18:36, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We could also talk about OJJDP's oversight of the SAGs. SAGs (State Advisory Groups) were also required as part of the JJDPA. In order to get part of the Title II funds provided for in the JJDPA, each state must have an advisory group (made up of a variety of community members (including specifically some youth members) and professionals) who advise the state's government on juvenile policy. The SAG also distributes the state's Title II funds in an agreed upon fashion. Acsieling (talk) 18:40, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
