Ratings table integration
[edit]Can anyone combine the Ratings tables to shorten the page? I think there's enough width on the page to do so. I tried but could not get the subheadings of the DVR info (the 18–49 rating increase, Viewers (millions) increase, Total 18-49, Total viewers (millions)) to align properly within the heading. Thanks! — WylieCoyote (talk) 01:28, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Ratings section
[edit]I firmly believe that the Ratings table/section added to this article is a redundant distraction from more especial information. I understand why some may find it useful, but useful only to a select few, which is why I deem the episodes individual articles with rating info, is sufficient/efficient. Having the table in place also makes editing the article quite stressful, due to its enormity. I highly recommend removing the section. Perhaps it should be moved to the series' episode list?. - I can see where you are coming from. I would like the ratings table on the page, I can meet you half way. I can support your suggestion of moving the ratings sections to the series' episode list down at the bottom of the page under the Specials section of the page. I do not mind it and I can remove the UK ratings and just keep the US ratings as those are the ones that matter to the future of the show and it would tidy up the section also. And if we could keep the show/hide part of it so that the ratings do not take up too much space. These are only suggestions. I can be reasnoable and meet you half way on the matter. Thanks. - See, this is how we resolve situations on Wikipedia. Your proposal is sufficient and pleases me. Thank you, LiamNolan24 (talk) 17:48, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Why do you think its a redundent destraction? A lot of people on wikipedia, appreciate the ratings table, when they go to find out information on their show, to why or why not their show got picked up. and why do you want it on the episodes page? It should really be on the seasons individual Page. Tvlover96 Tvlover96 (talk) 11:19, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- It pertains to the episodes themselves, therefore the ratings for the episodes should be on an article dedicated to episodes. LiamNolan24 (talk) 23:20, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes but the ratings are broken down into individual seasons, and into multiple sections of different types of ratings, so it would fit better on the season page.

- I agree that a ratings table is useful, and adds to an article's comprehensiveness. TRLIJC19 (talk • contribs) 01:31, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- As an additional note, I see that both of you (Liams) are fairly new to Wikipedia, so you may not be familiar with how consensus works. I re-added the ratings table, because until you gain consensus to remove it, it remains. Three users have said they want the table to remain, so your opinions cannot be centered. In addition, it makes absolutely no sense to pollute the episode list with multiple seasons' ratings, when they can be listed at seasonal articles. TRLIJC19 (talk • contribs) 01:47, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Agree, too. The ratings info is specific to individual seasons and since there are individual season articles, that is where they should be. Moreover, the episode list page is specifically that: a page for the list of episodes. It's inappropriate having so much information about the ratings on a page that's function is something completely different, especially when there is an appropriate place for them in the season pages. SchrutedIt08 (talk) 01:49, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Agree with TRLIJC and ShrutedIt about both consensus and the benefit of the tables. I believe they provide useful information for readers and belong more in this article than any other. Ruby 2010/2013 02:46, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Hey, I thoguth we had decided that the ratings would be placed on the list of episodes, not in the season pages. Liam74656 (talk) 21:27, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Please read the above discussion. Only you and the other Liam agreed to this, and proceeded—ignoring the consensus policy—while all the users who posted above did not agree. TRLIJC19 (talk • contribs) 21:53, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Leader characters
[edit]Why are my "Leader characters" edits repeatedly deleted? 2001:1AE9:10B1:8300:401C:C880:7ADB:5DDB (talk) 20:37, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Please consider reading MOS:TVCAST. Cast lists should be presented based on reliable sourcing, which often includes breaking the list down into "Main" and "Recurring" cast. "Leader characters" is not a functional category that can be substantiated by reliable sourcing, thus it does not belong on Wikipedia. It is a duplication of information already presented in the cast list, and if anyone is truly curious as to who are the major players in each episode, they can read the episode descriptions, or they can go to a fan wiki. TNstingray (talk) 13:08, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- I understand well. So I expect that it will be removed in the near future for the series Lost, or for some others where it is featured. It is so? 2001:1AE9:10B1:8300:FD0A:AC65:56A7:7247 (talk) 16:59, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure where you are referring to, but the purpose of the MOS is to have consistent formatting across similar articles, such as those for television shows. If there are instances where articles do not follow the MOS, then this is an example of how Wikipedia is a work in progress. TNstingray (talk) 18:02, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- For example here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lost_episodes#Season_1_(2004%E2%80%9305)
- Column in the table: "Featured character(s)". This is exactly the same information I wanted to add.
- Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Brothers_(miniseries)#Episodes . The table shows "Main character"....Again, the same information I wanted to add. 2001:1AE9:10B1:8300:B49F:23CF:AA:96BC (talk) 06:14, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- I am not familiar with those shows nor the consensus that lead to the decisions to present the cast in such a manner. My understanding of MOS:TVCAST is that these articles are in violation. We generally try to avoid using "other stuff exists" arguments on Wikipedia, because it is a constant work in progress. I just happened to catch it here because Once is a show I care enough about to read it's article. TNstingray (talk) 19:44, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- I understand. Well, if you ever change your mind, I'll add it there. OUAT is from the same creative team as Lost. The concept of the parts is also the same. Present day + flashback and in each episode presents the story of one character. That's why I wanted to add it there, since it's an important element of the whole series. 2001:1AE9:10B1:8300:FD0A:AC65:56A7:7247 (talk) 19:54, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
