'peplum' is a much more commonly used term than 'overskirt'. Though peplum is sometimes used in combination with overskirt ('peplum overskirt'), the two words are not synonymous. As defined in TheFreeDictionary a peplum is a short ruffle while an overskirt is an outer skirt. There are peplum tops, peplum sleeves, and peplum jackets; there are floor length overskirts. Not that it's an official source, but a search for 'peplum' on the fashion blog site Tom + Lorenzo results in pages of hits but 'overskirt' is not found.Pegordon (talk) 09:11, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
