Release Date
[edit]For some reason, a lot of the release dates listed on 3's official website are inconsistent with those on the actual CD cases and other sources. Paint by Number's release date is by far the most annoying... it's constantly being changed back and forth between 1998 and 1999 and 2000, because the band's official album page says 1998 and the copyright notice on the CD case and the disc is 2000 (and I forget where the hell 1999 comes from).
Anyway, I'm thinking we should go with 2000 as the official release date, here, since it's printed on the CD (or my copy of it, anyway), and Amazon.com says that 2000 is the original release date. The dates on the website could be a mistake. Agree? Disagree? I won't change anything, yet, because it will just be changed back if no one reads this. --Wikivader 21:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Redirect/Deletion
[edit]One more thing. I see that DreamGuy and Evanc88 are having a dispute over whether this page should exist, or simply redirect to 3 (band). And I'm saying it should stay. Firstly, Evanc88 does have a point that, according to WP:MUSIC, a notable band should have pages for their albums.
The exact text on WP:MUSIC#Albums (as of now) is: "Though this guideline is somewhat controversial, the general consensus on notability of albums is that if the musician or ensemble that made them is considered notable, then their albums have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia." And I can't remember even so much as a dispute over the notability of the band itself.
Furthermore, it doesn't look like there was ever a real debate on this. All I see on the debate archive is the original post and then a notice that the page was redirected to 3 (band) five days later. Until it is clear that the album violates WP:MUSIC, and until there's an actual debate, I think this page should stay. There shouldn't be any hurry to do away with Paint by Number's article, since it isn't spam and the band itself has already had an article for a long time. --Wikivader 21:38, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- Update: WP:MUSIC#Albums now reads: "If the musician or ensemble that made them is considered notable, then their albums have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia." I take this to mean that the guideline is no longer "controversial," as it was back in May. Also, I believe that I have already asserted the notability of the band itself in the band discussion, which in turn makes this album page notable. However, I'm still not sure what to do about the tag at the top of this discussion page, which says the result of the deletion debate was to redirect. As I mentioned before, I don't think that this debate was valid at all, but I don't think that Wikipedia has a specific procedure for going back on decisions in archived debates, or re-opening them for further discussion. If no one has any better ideas, I will just remove the tag from this discussion page at the end of the month, and simply ignore the previous deletion debate. To those who disagree with my notability assertion, please discuss it here before deleting or redirecting the page again. --Wikivader 04:00, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:TheBand3-PaintbyNumber.jpg
[edit]Image:TheBand3-PaintbyNumber.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
