Death of Paul Gregory

[edit]
  • (We are awaiting confirmation that Mr. Gregory passed away. Last verifiable communication with him was Dec. 24, 2015. Do not know who input the Dec 2015 death info)
  • Not sure where to input this but I can confirm he did pass away on 12/24. He was a regular at our restaurant and one of our servers was his neighbor. --Clibenfoart (talk) 20:04, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Category:Possibly living people and the text at the top. Basically, if someone 90+ years old has no current appearances for at least a decade, we say that the person's living-or-dead status is unknown. He gave an interview to The Desert Sun, 2012-08-22, so this category (reproduced at [1]; original source now a 404 error) can be added in 2022 if there's no published news about his life or his death. perhaps leave it as died Dec 2015 and put "citation needed"...justify it as "ignore all rules"....the guy is Wikipedia notable but quite obscure and only of interest to film history buffs...otherwise it will show him as alive for many, many more years..his nephew after talking to the subject's attorney says there was not to be an obituary published...Hollywood industry publications would likely note his death but there's really no way for them to become aware of it..68.48.241.158 (talk) 14:31, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The "citation needed" tag shouldn't be used when you know no sources exist. Anyone attempting to source the death date will find it unverifiable and remove it. Until his death is confirmed in reliable sources, this article is still considered a BLP and WP:BLPSOURCES applies. "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion." Claiming someone is dead is one of the most contentious things you can do. It absolutely requires a source. Reach Out to the Truth 01:40, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
yes, I suppose...it's unfortunate though as due to the circumstances and due to the requirements of Wikipedia it will likely appear he is alive for many, many more years when he is in fact deceased..he had no immediate family when he died (ie wife/children) and his nephew tracked down his attorney who said there was not to be an obituary...it's possible a researcher looking into Janet Gaynor or Charles Laughton or "the night of the hunter" would want to try to contact him for an interview etc believing he is still alive based on this article....68.48.241.158 (talk) 02:20, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
