Necessary Discography?[edit]

I'm not sure how to handle the discography. Someone put it in there but it seems a bit much, especially given the length of the rest of the article. Perhaps two or three of the better examples might be kept and the rest removed. Also, I can't find much information on the NAIRD award (not that I looked too hard), but given that it is an award, I hope that improves the notability of this artist. Notability[edit]

The deletion template said I could remove it if I objected to the deletion for any reason, and that people should not put the notice back up if it had been removed. I removed it for this reason: I count at least six awards Peter Alsop's music has won, as listed on his website, and can find at least two of these awards easily online (and that I cannot so easily find the other awards should not necessarily disqualify their weight in this matter). We have, according to his site: Parent's Choice Honors Award; Parent's Choice Best Children's Award; Children's Music Web Award; Kid's Workout Award; INDIE Best Children's Award; and National Parenting Publications Gold Award. I don't have the time or inclination to double-check these to see if these are particularly important awards; maybe someone else can do that. But I count Peter Alsop notable on the following criteria:

  1. Has won at least six awards;
  2. Has produced numerous albums, each easily purchased on Amazon etc. (that is, not some minor artist you can't find anywhere);
  3. Has been doing this for several decades (I grew up on him);
  4. Has teamed up with at least two other artists who have articles on Wikipedia (John Ritter and Bill Harley);
  5. Has penned abundant lyrical content that is potent and timeless and unusually helpful to children in difficult life circumstances (unusual compared to the general feel of other kids' music I've encountered).

I realize that he's not as recognizable as Raffi, but I think that this should be sufficient to prove that he's not some forgettable hack who doesn't have the clout to end up in an encyclopedia of this magnitude. When we have individual articles for specific hairstyles, we have room for an article about a significant children's artist who's been penning unusual and unforgettable songs for decades. Biography?[edit]

came here via editing Herta Ware's wiki, and I'm just editing my way through this family. The biography section reads as though it was written by Peter or someone in relation to Peter- not in a self-ad way, but because there's some unnecessary details about grandchildren. Some editing could be helpful here at a future date to make it more streamline, and provide more context around Peter and his career. MerlinCat2 (talk) 04:41, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
