[edit]

I am the author/webmaster of http://www.mcdman.com, including Philip Steir's biography and discography at http://www.mcdman.com/steir.html. Further, our company professionally manages Philip Steir. It was a joint decision involving myself (as author), Philip (as a client), and everyone else on Philip's management team, that we posted his bio/disco and achievements on Wikipedia. It is not my intention to violate copyright violations. However, as I am the original author of every bit of content that is in violation of (by your standards), I respectfully ask that you allow this page to be added to Wikipedia withouth the copyright violation notice, understanding that I have referenced our webpage as the main authoring source. Could you please either e-mail me or e-mail permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org confirming your ownership of this material? This confirmation serves two purposes. The first is verification of your identity; as a copyright holder, I'm sure you appreciate that we wish to protect your intellectual property rights as best we can – you would understandably be upset if your material were submitted to Wikipedia by a contributor asserting permission and it was not removed. The second purpose is certification that you understand that you must license your material under the GNU Free Documentation License, which means, among other things, that:

  1. The text may be freely redistributed and used.
  2. It may be freely modified, and modified versions may also be freely redistributed and used.
  3. Any redistribution must include the full text of the GFDL itself.
  4. In all cases, the GFDL requires proper attribution of the author(s).
  5. The GFDL allows commercial re-uses provided such re-use is also under the GFDL.

You do not give up any of your rights to use the text: you are still free to publish the text elsewhere or to license the same text to other parties under any other license. The requirement to include the full text of the GFDL with any redistribution also makes stand-alone commercial reuse of the item unlikely in practice, incidentally.

I hope you don't begrudge this simple procedure we follow to ensure that Wikipedia is and remains free content.  :)

Permission has been confirmed and forwarded to OTRS. You may recreate the article, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on conflicts of interest and neutral point of view. Wikipedia:Business' FAQ may help you in many other ways. Cheers! — madman bum and angel 03:46, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
