[edit]This article is in need of the following five corrections:
"He currently serves as the Dean for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at New York University" should be "He currently serves as Program Director for Higher Learning at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation*, and was previously Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University." The reference indicated by the asterisk (*) in the revised sentence should be keyed to this web page: https://mellon.org/news-blog/articles/mellon-foundation-announces-phillip-brian-harper-become-program-director-higher-learning/
"His 1997 book, Private Affairs: Critical Ventures in the Culture of Social Relations, he explores the social and cultural significance of the private..." should be "His 1999 book, Private Affairs: Critical Ventures in the Culture of Social Relations, explores the social and cultural significance of the private..."
"Art critic Douglas Crimp wrote," Private Affairs teaches us..."" should be "Art critic Douglas Crimp wrote, "Private Affairs teaches us..."" --i.e., the spacing around the quotation mark preceding the word 'Private' should be fixed.
"John Keen" should be "John Keene"
"Harper was previously Director of Graduate Studies of American Studies, English, and SCA; Director of the American Studies and Gender and Sexuality Programs; and Chair of the Department of English. He is a Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, along with scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen." should be "At NYU, Harper was the Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis (SCA), whose faculty has included scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen. Harper also served as Director of Graduate Studies in American Studies, in English, and in SCA; as Director of the American Studies and Gender and Sexuality Programs; and as Chair of the Department of English."
Partially done. If we number the suggested changes. 3 and 5 have been left as it appears to be in conformity with MOS and unnecessary respectively. Chirota (talk) 02:05, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

- Hello, and thank you. There still remain some edits to be done, as follows:
- "Graduate School of Arts and Sciences" should be "Graduate School of Arts and Science"--no "s" at the end of "Science."
- "Crimp wrote," Private Affairs..."" should be "Crimp wrote, "Private Affairs...""--in other words, note the typo after "wrote": there should be a space between the comma and the quotation mark; and there should be *no* space between the quotation mark and "Private"
- "Harper was previously Director of Graduate Studies of American Studies, English, and SCA; Director of the American Studies and Gender and Sexuality Programs; and Chair of the Department of English. He is a Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, along with scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen."
- should be
- "At NYU, Harper was the Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis (SCA), whose faculty has included scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen. Harper also served as Director of Graduate Studies in American Studies, in English, and in SCA; as Director of the American Studies and Gender and Sexuality Programs; and as Chair of the Department of English."
- This last point is not a matter of conformity with MOS, as you suggest; rather, it is a matter of clarity and factual accuracy. The phrase "Harper was previously Director of Graduate Studies of American Studies, English, and SCA" introduces the abbreviation "SCA" before it has been defined. "SCA" stands for "Social and Cultural Analysis," so it makes sense for the the lead sentence of this paragraph to read, "At NYU, Harper was the Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis (SCA)...."
- Additionally, "He is a Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, along with scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen" is simply incorrect. "[A] Founding Chair" implies that there was more than one Founding Chair, whereas there was only one; and "along with scholars Jose Esteban-Muñoz, Lisa Duggan, Carolyn Dinshaw, Ann Pellegrini, and Jack Tchen" implies that these other people also served as "Founding Chair." This is not true. There was a single Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis, and it was Phillip Brian Harper.

- I'm closing the template as these appear mostly implemented. PK650 (talk) 06:24, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
