Marijuana industry

I've deleted the para below and replaced it with (imho) a cleaned-up version. the original seemed a little too unencyclopedic (e.g. "the annual marijuana busts" makes it sound like a civic festival).

Every fall, starting september, police forces and media gather to this small village and its surroundings for the annual marijuana busts. What started 15-20 years ago as a few farmers growing pot in corn fields became a mutimillions dollar industry. Pierreville soon got a nickname proper to its reputation: la petite Colombie (small Colombia) Due to the coming of a certain prosperity related to this illegal culture, most locals tolerate the illegal activities.
