There are no reliable citations I can find for these times. Some directly conflict other sources online, which are also uncited. Seeing as the Tour doesn't keep an official record of climb times, I don't think they should be presented here as fact with out a reliable source.
I am also very sure the 45:05 figure for 2011 is inaccurate. Using ITVs live footage, and timing from a street sign outside of Les Cabannes that I believe is after the accepted "start" of the climb, I have 46:08 for Vanendert. I can provide screenshots if you'd like. --Cosmocatalano (talk) 02:55, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Well the 45.04 is accurate because the climb actually started a bit later than we think,it can be a long debate, but as i saw on other sites and as i heard from other cycling fans,I think it's accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarkCavendish (talk • contribs) 16:20, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Can you provide links to those other sites? --Cosmocatalano (talk) 01:09, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Michele Ferrari, who popularized the VAM statistic, has the following:
The winner Vanendert did the final ascent to Plateau de Beille in 46’01” (1627 m/h = 5.85w/kg); Samuel Sanchez was not far behind (20") and the group of favorites did it at 1600m/h (5.75 w/kg).

Ferrari is a knowledgeable source, I'd say. I'm fine with citing him on 46:01, even though it conflicts slightly with my own accurate, verifiable, but explicitly not "official" numbers (15.6km, 46:08, [1]). It's close enough, and Sport Scientists has a similar mark (46:05, [2]) Maybe we should add some text to the effect of "the Tour doesn't keep precise numbers on climbs, but sources report the following times…" --Cosmocatalano (talk) 20:19, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Updated the 2011 Listing
[edit]Anyone out there want to track down citations that support (or provide alternate) "official" times for the other years? --Cosmocatalano (talk) 19:47, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
