Canadian Coast Guard vs Transport Canada[edit]

The Operator Competency Program is now under the jurisdiction of transport canada, and no longer the Canadian Coast Guard. Any references to Canadian Coast Guard are innacurate and should be changed to Transport Canada. --BoaterExam (talk) 15:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Safe Boating Guide[edit]

The test for obtaining a PCOC IS NOT based on the Safe Boating Guide. The Safe Boating Guide only covers roughly 75% of the knowledge points required in an accredited TC boating safety manual. --BoaterExam (talk) 15:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Obtaining PCOC from prior certification[edit]

The following statement is inaccurate and so was removed:

Commercial mariners who hold certain, recognized professional maritime certificates of competency, such as Master Mariner, can apply to obtain a PCO Card for having on board while operating a pleasure craft, for convenience. No test is required for this.

Regulations clearly state that a PCOC can only be issued following the successful completion of an accredited test. Although a Master Mariner certificate may serve as proof of competency (proof of certification would need to be carried on board while operating), a PCOC cannot be issued unless an accredited test is passed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aczarto (talk • contribs) 12:02, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
